The problem

When Aiways Europe went silent

Aiways Europe has shut down its cloud and no longer responds to inquiries. A lot of the functionality you paid for with the car has been lost — and we do not want to leave it that way.

Before

  • Manufacturer servers offline → app only shows errors
  • No state of charge, no location, no history
  • No remote lock/unlock, no remote climate preheating
  • Data stuck proprietarily inside the TBox

With the Aiways Community

  • Your own app + your own backend, fully under your control
  • Live telemetry: SoC, range, position, cells, temperatures
  • Remote commands via BLE (unlock, lock, climate, …) over LTE
  • Integrations for Home Assistant & EVCC

Architecture

The LTE-Bridge at the heart

A battery-powered microcontroller in the vehicle connects everything: it reads out the TBox, phones the self-hosted backend over LTE and controls the car via Bluetooth — the app and third-party services hang off the back of it.

The components

Five parts, one system

Each component has its own function. The app is the "hub" where everything comes together: it talks to the backend, our bridge and the vehicle and makes setting up our community solution as easy as possible.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this an official offering from Aiways?

No. The Aiways Community is an independent, non-commercial project by Aiways drivers and has no connection to Aiways (Europe). No data is transmitted to Aiways.

What do I need to take part?

An Aiways U5, our LTE-Bridge for the vehicle and the AiwaysApp. The bridge is based on the Waveshare ESP32-S3-A7670E-4G board. Note: The board ships without an 18650 battery cell – you have to buy that separately. The setup guides you through everything step by step – see Get started.

How much does it cost?

The software (app, backend, integrations) is free. The only costs are for the LTE-Bridge hardware and its SIM/mobile data. If the project helps you, we would be glad about a coffee – entirely voluntary.

Where is my data stored?

On a community-operated backend – not with a manufacturer. For complete privacy, you can also self-host your backend at any time. There are no third-party advertising or tracking services. Details in the privacy policy; you can remove your account at any time via Delete account .

What is the LTE-Bridge?

A small, battery-powered microcontroller (ESP32 + LTE modem) in the vehicle. It reads out the vehicle data and sends it to the backend over the mobile network – even when your smartphone is not nearby – and controls the car via Bluetooth. We use the Waveshare ESP32-S3-A7670E-4G board.

Can I use the data in Home Assistant or EVCC?

Yes. The vehicle data can be integrated freely – for example into Home Assistant for the smart home or into EVCC for charge optimization. The system is open to further services.

When is the app coming to the store?

The app is currently in testing. As soon as it is available, you will find the links to the Play Store and App Store at the top in the header.

Do you like this project?

The community solution is free and built in my spare time. If it helps you, I would be glad about a coffee. ☕
